BACKGROUND

Tech Access PA., Inc. was formed around three principles:

1. There exists a "spiritual divide" between those who possess self-respect and those who have been stripped of self-respect by their circumstances and experiences.

2. There exists a "digital divide" between those who are proficient in internet use and those for whom a personal computer with internet access is an unaffordable luxery.

3. There exits a "pride divide" between those who have an "investment" in the things they own and those who have things given to them, thus denying any sense of pride in accomplishment or ownership.

The Bible, Psalm 8:4-6 (King James Version) answers the question of "What is man, that thou art mindful of him?... by telling us "For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honor."

Expanding on the notion that every human is "crowned" by God with "glory and honor," Robert Schuller wrote this:

“You can test any and every possibility on this universal reality: humans want and need to be honored and respected. No product, philosophy, or service can ever achieve success if it violates a person’s hunger for self-respect. This global spiritual reality mustn’t be forgotten, violated, or abandoned in planning new projects and setting new goals.

"...So you want to motivate persons to be lifted from the shame of poverty to the pride of prosperity? Then your plan of success must teach them to succeed by developing their God-given talents and gifts in such a way that they’ll experience the pride of earnership even as they enjoy the pride of ownership."

It is the mission of Tech Access PA, Inc. to obey that "spiritual reality." We seek to develop in residents of Pennsylvania their "God-given talents and gifts" by helping them to acquire the tools necessary to keep up with rapidly expanding technology. Give a man a fish, he eats today. Teach him how to fish, and he eats for life. We are teaching him to fish, and helping him to get the fishing pole and tackle that he couldn't otherwise afford.

Accordingly, Tech Access, PA, Inc. has adopted the following mission statement:

MISSION STATEMENT

TECH ACCESS PA IS DEDICATED TO HELPING TO CLOSE THE "DIGITAL DIVIDE" AMONG RESIDENTS OF PENNSYLVANIA IN A WAY THAT HONORS THE UNIVERSAL HUMAN NEED FOR SELF-RESPECT. TO ACCOMPLISH THIS, WE WILL:

  1. PROVIDE LOW-TO-NO-COST PERSONAL COMPUTERS TO THOSE IN NEED.
  2. PROVIDE EDUCATION IN THE USE OF CURRENT TECHNOLOGIES.
  3. PROVIDE INSTRUCTION IN THE PRODUCTIVE USE OF INTERNET RESOURCES.
